Our fresh sourdough starter, made with only organic flours (a mix of 10% Arrowhead Mills rye and 90% King Arthur bread flour) and filtered water, was developed by Kristen Dennis in 2016. Since then she has painstakingly nurtured "Ozzy" so that he is both fast rising and robust. Fresh starter can be revived much quicker than a typical dehydrated starter, in as little as 1-2 days!
NOTE: The fresh starter has been prepared in a manner that allows it to survive even long transit times. If you have any issues reviving your starter according to the directions once you receive it, please reach out to us at email@example.com

Starter arrived promptly and within 3 days it was growing well. I'm unable to get more than double volume growth using combined fresh milled whole wheat flour and all-purpose. I'll try adding 10% rye and see if the growth will expand beyond 2X.
I never have trying the starter before but I bought it for my cousin & she love it!

I accidentally killed my starter. The first starter I ordered elsewhere never took off even after tending to it diligently. The starter I then ordered from full proof baking was so easy to get going. It was immediately active. The directions were clear also. Very happy.
I followed the instructions to the T and baked a loaf of bread on the fourth day. It probably would have benefited from additional feedings, but I felt it performed very well. And the bread was delicious!

I bought this as a backup for the starter kit, just in case the starter from that kit died. It arrived perfectly ready to be fed. I gave it to a friend and they are happily making sourdough! They also love your videos and appreciate the detailed instructions and timetables. A great product!!
Starter is strong. Smell good when compare to others.
I spent 2 months trying to develop a strong starter of my own with no success. I finally broke down and bought this starter and at first I was disappointed at the amount I’d received. But not once I fed it. I fed 5 grams of it in a 1:10:10 ration and wow! It more than doubled in short order! The stuff is amazing! Starter on steroids. And it smells so deliciously tangy. There are probably 20 grams left and I’m going to dehydrate them in case I kill what if got going now. I’m 100% delighted with this purchase!
This starter is SO vibrant! The sourdough flavor actually stands out in goods baked with it! Our sourdough crackers never tasted this great with other starters. So happy to have this starter!

I started my SD journey in mid-June this year, and even through all the trials and tribulations - baked about 8-10 loaves - most of them inedible and so thrown away. I was so tired of trying to 'get my fermentation right' I decided to eliminate the variable of my entire starter. Kristen's starter arrived and it took only 2 days of twice/day feeds and I was able to produce this. I was so happy, when my 300g flour dough was able to fill up a 10-inch batard banneton. I dilly and dallied my decision to buy Ozzie for 3 months, so glad I finally did. Thank you Kristen.

the Full proof starter is robust !! No doubt about it.
It has been two weeks of refreshments and I converted it from 100% to 40-50% hydration. The starter perked up as expected after 2nd day of refreshment at 70F. With cooler temp now (68F), it is a bit slower to peak but still at 2.5x-3x two times a day with 1:3:1.5. Overall, I’m very happy. I think it is more active than my own original starter.
Great, rise and crumb. I've been baking sourdough for 15 years and will be replacing my starter with this one after achieving great results on my first try.
the first time Izzy wasn’t that active and Kristen sent me another packet of starter. Second time was a charm as Ozzy came back bubbly an active. The bread I made was the most open I have done. Thanks Kristen and team for the customer service and quest for excellence.

I refreshed the starter over a period of several weeks 2x per day so it would get acclimated to my flour combination and storage location. My first bake produced two terrific loaves. Essentially this is a sample that will get you to a strong starter with regular refreshes and over time it will have subtle differences from Kristen's because of different flours, temperatures and water. It will be your starter vs. remain Ozzie ;-)

I finally ended my search for the perfect starter after receiving the latest batch of Ozzy in September. I created my own starter before (50/50 bread/rye) and also revived an earlier batch of Ozzy (fed 90/10, bread/Arrowhead rye like Kristen). Both starters did not rise to 4x (seen in the picture) or ferment the sourdough efficiently (my target is under 6hrs @78F, both old starters require 7-8hrs). The latest starter is super strong, ferments bread quickly, and produce the mildest bread with no sour notes (my preference). Cannot recommend enough the starter enough - so happy I get to own Ozzy’s offspring and make beautiful open crumb bread like Kristen!

Still new at it. But Was happy with my bake today Really appreciate you resending the starter. Big difference! I was having trouble getting it strong enough. Thought I was doing something wrong. Feel more confident now. Sooo enjoy your beautiful posts and sharing your knowledge with us
Although I don’t know how well the product it, as mine wouldn’t rise. Kirsten was amazing at guiding me to get there! We worked together to try to activate the little yeasts, but were unable to. She is sending me more!! The customer service is incredible!
I got the starter to experiment. I’ve been feeding it along side my own starter for comparison. My first bake with the new starter came out really well. I’m not really sure whether to blend the two or keep the separate. They have slightly different aromas and tastes. I’m going to keep experimenting. Thanks!

Loving my new starter. It took a few days of feeding with rye to get it up to doubling over 12 hours. Now it rises at least 3x over the same time. I’ve been able to make the tangiest loaves from this starter
Very happy with the kit. So easy to use. I have been feeding twice a day at a 1-5-5 or 1-8-8. Using 3-4 g starter to 24-25 g of flour & water Temperature between 78-80. Both seem to be doing about the same. Mainly doubling but not much more. Plan to bake this week but not sure yet what ratio I should use for the levain. Nervous about it not rising in the 6 hour period. Right now it’s not really getting to the double stage til later than 6 hrs. Otherwise it seems to look good and strong Just feel that my ratio is not quite right. Any suggestions. Thanks

I've had a starter I acquired from King Arthur for years making artesian loafs. I was never really happy as I don't think I could ever get the starter active enough. I moved a year ago and let that starter go. I really liked the activity I saw in Kristen's starter so purchased it. It took several days to wake it up after the trip in the mail but I constantly get a 3X raise from it every feeding and that's at 68F. My wife has migraines so our house is always at that temp. My wife and son don't eat my artesian loafs because of TMJ issues so I just made my very first sourdough milk sandwich loaf as described by Kristen. Two loaves came out beautiful. Ozzy arrived in a great condition, it took couple days for him to get the power. Still experimenting with the right feeding but it easily triples with 1:5:5 feeding every 12 hours. All bread that I made with Ozzy was also super successful, amazing oven spring.

My first order's of oozy didnt grow even after persistently feeding it for 21 days. I sent an email with no expection at all anyone would reply. However, Kristen was so nice, not only did she assist, she also sent a replacement of oozy for me to get started. And now it's growing and triple in size after 3rd feed. Thanks so much!

Replaced a long-neglected starter with Kristen’s, and glad I made the switch because it’s so much more active and cleaner tasting. And I think the bread speaks for itself (see photo). Kristen’s tutorials are the best I’ve found anywhere—she is amazing!
First Ozzy survived 30 days of transfer. Its arrival pH was 4.2… still do not know how! After 2nd feed it was up and lively. I have made great bread with it. Its scent and behavior has changed over feedings and has become very similar to mine. So I decided to buy a new batch of Ozzy with its feeding flour. After one week of travel Ozzy arrived with pH of 3.7 acetic, albeit it was bubbly. It took 3 feedings now to get it very active. The feedings were done with the feed flour mixture. This method was successful to prolong Ozzy's character and I could use it for longer and more loafs. But running out of flour I decided to deep freeze the starter for future exploration. I enjoyed the experiment immensely!
We purchased 1 "Ozzy" and received a 2nd for free which is a great gesture. However, the extra one had very little activity after restoration and eventually discarded it. The primary "Ozzy" is doing great and has so much activity compared to my original starter. I am now baking my best sourdough bread!

After I received the starter in the mail it took a few days to adjust, and once it did it was doubling in no time. This was my first attempt at making bread and I am so pleased with my results. I loved being able to jumpstart the process with this starter. I’m also looking forward to the restock on sourdough starter jars!

I have gotten starters from other places in the past, and none have been so quick to take off as this one. The smell is amazing and the sourdough actually has that sour quality I love. I have made a whole wheat loaf and white loaf. So yummy!
This is my first attempt at sourdough. I had ordered my started and it never arrived. I emailed the help/ support with my frustrations over not receiving the starter. I wanted to make sourdough for the holidays and I never got my starter. Within 24 hours I had gotten a phone call from Claire offering condolences for the delay. She explained to me the issue and told me I would receive the starter via Overnight delivery. Claire was away visiting her family and took the time to make my experience right. I can not tell how much this meant to me and my new journey as a sourdough bread maker. This showed me how professional and passionate they are about the business. Took a few days to adjust but once I built a proofing box, it took care of controlling my temperature better. Now, about a week later, I have a very happy healthy starter going! This pic is about 8 hours into my 12 hour feeds. I’m letting a bit of hootch build up before feeds to increase the “sour.”

After the 10 day trip to my home, I wasn’t sure Ozzy would survive. Boy, was I wrong! Within 2 days it was rising 4x+ on a 1:2:2 feed and I’ve been working on my feed ratio since then - currently using 1:10:10 at 78-80 degrees - it’s a very hungry culture. The picture is about 6 hours into the every 12 hr feed (1:10:10). I was really struggling to get a strong oven spring and bulk ferment with my first two attempts at starter and figured if I started with a “known good” starter I’d be in better shape. That was 100% the case, and after 3 months of struggling, I’m now producing the best loaves I’ve ever made and great pizza dough! Thanks Kristen!

Left it in the mailbox for a day and it got pretty hot, still got bubbly and growing in 2 days of feeding! Love it

I started feeding my starter a week and a half ago and fed it like the instructions recommend. After a week i put it in the fridge and just fed it yesterday took it out to show how good it's doing! I will be baking soon. It was easy

I ordered Ozzy out of curiosity, wanted to compare it with my own starter. When the starter arrived, it had endured a week’s of tough environment through DHL transits, and our local room temp in Singapore was about 28-30 degC (82-86F). A very hot day! I was sceptical that I could revive it in a few days. On the first feed (ratio of 5:15:15 @28 DegC), the starter remained quiet for 9 hrs. There was no sign of activity except for a few bubbles, almost like making a new SD from scratch. I gave up waiting as it was my bedtime. The next morning, 15.5hrs after feeding, it had collapsed some time earlier and registered a rise of 2.3x. Over the next two days, the starter grew steadily when I fed it with various ratios to suit my schedule. On the 3rd day, I did a final test with the ratio of 15:15:15. It rose 4.7x in 6 hours.
I have my own starter but still ordered Ozzy. Ozzy is quite the performer. I've now made 3 loaves with him. He is thriving! Thank you for sharing!
I bought the starter kit and I have been nothing but impressed. Every detail has been meticulously thought out by the full proof baking team. I put it side by side next to my starter Bubba 2 and Ozzy has a lot more flavor and complexity. It only took me like 1 day to get it to 2X plus. Amazing rise in my bake and if you get lost you can always refer to the help videos. Absolutely love it! I will recommend this to everyone.
Buy this starter! It smells so good, like Kombucha! It is so different than my Rye starter. It was easy to get going and did not disappoint.
I thought it was a great opportunity to purchase some of Kristin's famous starter named Ozzie. I also ordered some of Kristin's handy dandy jars. I thought the jars would be the best home for my new starter, I followed Krisin's instructions on how to care for the starter. I was concerned when "Chrissy" arrived because I did not know what she had to endure on her trip to California. Was it too hot? was it too cold? After following Kristin's 3 day jet lag recovery program for starters, the party began. Ozzies relatives brought lots and lots of balloons and decorated their new home. In all seriousness I am impressed with the starters robust growth rate and gas production. Kristin's starter is a great product. I now have 3 starters each with their own character.
